What is The Daily Scribe?

The Internet is a wonderful place! It is filled to overflowing with personal expression, individualism, art, and personality. These characteristics make the 'blogosphere' a great place, without doubt. Blogs come in all shapes, sizes, colors, styles, and fonts. Some blogs are characterized by a strong and consistent voice; others are more akin to a personal journal led by the vastly shifting daily moods and thoughts of its writer. A lack of such varied characteristics would obviously render the blogosphere lifeless and shallow. They are necessary! The 'sphere is not Pleasantville! Color is a necessity! How colorful it is too!

The blogosphere also plays host to some of the very best writing and thinking available today. Religion, philosophy and political writing by bloggers is improving by the minute, consequently demanding the attention of the more traditional and the much larger media outlets, institutions, and organizations. The fact that vocational professionals are forming blogging niches relevant to their academic training and life expertise has much to do with this improvement. A new found respect is being directed towards blogs and bloggers who exhibit a passion for this new medium with which they express their life's hard work and study.

The Daily Scribe is one such niche. Only the highest quality Christian writing and expression is aggregated on the pages of The Daily Scribe. All of the writers featured are dedicated professionals in their respective fields and faiths. Theirs is a passion which is obvious, mature and tuned - well tuned. Each aggregated member represents quality and honesty. Each of these individuals bring much of value to the craft. So, rather than searching for hours for quality content regarding Christian ministry, theology, philosophy, design, technology, culture and praxis, just swing by "The Daily Scribe" and do your research! Here you will find more than you can probably process in one sitting. So, research it, find it, and take the knowledge with you!

The grass-roots potential of the inter-connected blogosphere has yet to be practically realized. This realization is quickly becoming a reality as more and more blogs form stronger alliances by which they can better present themselves - individually - to potential audiences. This is the goal of "The Daily Scribe." Voices are stronger when joined together or centrally located. Scribe is a hand-edited and centralized list of a few of the best Christian blogs on the Internet. Deep change is embraced and sought hard after by all the featured writers on "The Daily Scribe." Each member writes not just to simply write, but to create a catalyst for social, political, philosophical, and religious change in society and the world. This starts at the grass-roots level, obviously. That's why we blog! We are trying to expand the audience beyond the blogosphere and reach the many, many Internet users who do not simply track blogs. This is the goal. The motive is social change and action. The end result, we pray, is that Jesus Christ become known and glorified through our efforts.

What Makes a Scribe?

1.) Advanced Writing Ability. This is not limited to mechanics and/or style, which are obvious traits we look for in writers. Sharp articulation and presentation are very, very important too. The ability to engage in narrative form is a gift which definitely makes writers very attractive.

2.) Awareness of Voice. Who you are in relation to your subject should be obvious to your readers. Readers who can not see the human story behind the content will not be as edified as they could be by your content. Why then would they come back? A blogger's voice is so important. Voice saturates content. Your voice - be it consistent or otherwise - is the very first thing readers encounter as they peruse your blog. In fact, because your voice is so immediately prominent, when it meanders all over the place or is totally missing, readers immediately realize it. Identifiable and consistent voice/expression is a must.

3.) Content Credentials. The Internet is a wonderful realm wherein anyone can log on and make a statement about anything they desire. It's free! It's wide open! This is the way it should be too. The Daily Scribe, however, also believes that an equally special realm for people who have set aside years upon years of their lives to study, train and prepare for specialized service in particular disciplines or fields should exist too. So, if you are going to apply, please be prepared to share your academic credentials and/or preparation experiences. Please understand: Our idea of Content Credentials is not limited to mere academic credentials! No, not at all! Your life experience is also a major, major consideration! So, do apply!

Who are the People Who Make Scribe Go?

Ben Gray: Design Guy

Nick Gray: Community Guru

Sonja Andrews: Community Guru

Shawn Anthony: Founder/PR/Misc. Code Guy

The above mentioned people make Scribe work, technically speaking. As a result, we share ownership of the whole project, equally. Without their help and input, Scribe would not be the great site that it is! I can't do it alone! So, to the three of you (Ben, Nick, and Sonja!), I say, "Thank you!" But Scribe is also so much more than technology, PR, and community chores. It is a larger community of individuals, and this group of individuals ultimately make Scribe what it is - a great community! So, while the four individuals named above do the hard work of making the community available by twisting code, moving pixels, and helping new members assimilate, the larger group of people aggregated on Scribe's front page really do make it the community that it is. The four of us want to say thank you to all of them! So, Thank you!

In Christ,

Shawn Anthony, B.A. Theological Studies; M.Div

Ephesians 2:1-3 And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience - among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.
